The Bodyguards of the Pope, his personal army since the 15th century. Males must be single, Swiss and Catholic, between the ages of 19 and 35, and have received basic military training with the Swiss Army. They earn €1300 per month, plus board and accommodation, living on site. Each uniform is custom made by a tailor who lives within the Vatican -there are height and weight requirements - with 32 pieces to the uniform. You can serve for life.
There are historical weapons that they carry, and are recently more trained in military action. Marc wants their socks!
A large portion of their role is ceremonial, as in the Christmas Day address by the Pope, seen here.
