I have yet to discover what this style of leaded glass is called, but it's everywhere here in Florence. Homes, churches, basement windows, municipal buildings, galleries, museums, cathedrals. Some circles have a slight hue, some are clear, they all have the dimple in the centre, which leads me to believe they are hand-blown. They all reflect a soft, muted, distorted light, except when the sun directly shines through, and then the design and color dancing on the interior floors and walls is stunning. I'm getting the sense that Florentines left no artistic opportunity to chance. Truly.
I'll have to find out more!
