Pitti Palace, Boboli Gardens

A Palace!, from the 1500s, inhabited by the Pittis first, arch-rivals of the Medici, then the Medici, the Lorraines, briefly by Napoleon, and lastly the Savoys before being turned over to the state. Over 5,000 works of art: Raphael, Caravaggio, Michelangelo, titian, Lippi and more. We actually had vertigo after leaving this place, the ceilings are incredible, and each room is dedicated to one of the planetary gods. Amazing. And kept much like it was.

The 1st Sunday of every month, all State Museums are free, so of course, we joined the 1000s of others on a fine Sunday!

They loved their chandeliers! They really are everywhere throughout Florence.
Marc wants to come live here and get a job as the Florentine candle-straightener.

The view of the line-up (still, at 3 pm)  and hill-side from one of the top floors.

The very tiny king's bed (not sure of the ruler's official title!)

Thought we'd add our portrait to these famous walls!

And their grounds, the  Boboli Gardens, formal Italian Renaissance garden, stretching on for acres.

Always loved an arbour!

Ponte Vecchio and The Uffizi, at night

You'd never guess what's inside from the exterior of The Pitti Palace!
